Shoot what you can carry the longest, some days Pheasant hunting you can walk for hours before you get an opportunity. For me my 1100 LT 20 with 3" magnums is my gun.
I shoot mod choke early in the season when the birds hold better and give closer shots, then like now in December I switch to full choke and 4 or 5 shot to really reach out there for those 40-50 yard shots.
Pick the gun that fits you the best, and shoot it. To me a 20 ga is no handicap if you can shoot it.
