I am in the market for a new slug gun I have my sights set on either the savage 212 or the 220, is there any advantages over one or the besides weight and recoil, also I am hoping to be able to ethically take deer at 150 yards and under, am I dreaming, any help would be appreciated

My opinion only (I own the 220).
Recoil, recoil, recoil. My 220 will shoot honest 1" edge to edge 5 shot 1 moa at 100 with factory Sabot ammo, a bench rest and scope. I consider it to be my 62 cal. rifle.

Except for Grizzly Bears (all browns really), I can't think of a situation where I would need the 12 gauge slug. The 220 is not punishing even off a bench rest.

I have the .62 inch noe slug mold for 20 gauge and shoot my cast boolit "naked" using a stacked set of wads and cards. The cast boolit engages the lands just like a rifle bullet and is -3 moa at 150.

A real man would by the 212 because it is a 12, but I find the 20 to be almost perfect.
