have purchased 511 shotgun. it looks like it is made of leftover parts of the 311 production. anyone out there know when the 511 series was first produced and sold and when sales ceased. it is an interesting way to hold the parts together to make a double barrel that will function and shoot. look like the savage folks took a page from the old mossberg methods of building a shootin' iron that goes bang for the least bucks.

I know that a friend had bought one new around 1970 and I bought a 311 new around 1973. So they were not built after.
