I love smallbore shooting and would love to get into .410. I'm mostly a SC shooter so I am looking for a gun that can hold at least 2 rounds with an adjustable choke system. Since I also love O/Us, and I am looking to shoot on a budget, I'm trying to find something reasonable which is under 1200 bucks. I've found the Savage 555 E, which is the improved version of the 555 that is supposedly of lesser quality and doesn't have ejectors, which I like.
I've heard mostly positive reviews about this particular gun, and seeing that it's a .410 O/U for under a thousand bucks it's quite tempting to me. I've picked the gun up in stores once and it fits me perfectly right off the shelf. It just feels right overall to me, and I am not one that particularly cares about aesthetics when shooting NSCA. The price is reasonable to the point where I have pretty well made up my mind that I would like to own one, granted that it is reliable.
Which brings us to....
I've heard many stores of these guns, even the E-series, double-firing on people. Since this gun has a mechanical trigger I am wondering if this is more of an issue with the larger gauges.
If anyone has experience with or owns a Savage-Stevens 555 E in .410, or any other chambering, I'd love to hear your experience, good or bad.
