Hey everyone deer season is just around the corner. This year i got a new deer rig and would like some advice on scope mounting. In the past I have had the gunsmith do it, but this year I got my best deals on the web, so the scope and rings will be shipped to me. I figure why not try to mount it myself. Anyone have a good method to make sure the scope is not canted?

You left out make and model, is drilled and tapped?
Are you useing a saddle mount?

See how little I know about this ....
Gun is a Savage Stiker Stainless .308 with weaver mounts on it.
The scope is a Ncstar 2-7x32 pistol scope.
Aluminum rings on the scope.

On the upside Gander will mount it and bore site it for less than $20 in 20 min. I may just do that, but I would still like to hear what is involved.
