i bought a case from cabelaland

8)

one of the best deals i've found on 00 - shoots clean, tight, brass and plastic well formed... a good solid kick and while i didn't chronograph the rounds, they feel just as good as the remington or federals i've bought

no FTF or FTE ever...

weird thing tho, after discharge, there's a strange odor like a burning mattress... no, i'm not orafactorally challenged, others have reported it too... think its the fiber wad.

i have a bunch in a bandolier ready to go in my bug out bag, and that's a good indication that after shooting it all, i trust it that much[/i]

Good stuff. I buy a few boxes whenever I'm at the local gun show. It's performed perfectly in my Mossberg 500.

My only complaint about it is WOW, does it ever leave lead deposits in the barrel! Takes a bit more effort to clean the barrel afterwards (I ended up chucking the cleaning rod and brush in my cordless drill last time).

Of course since it's cheap I also tend to shoot more buckshot than I would otherwise. On the other hand the more expensive stuff is usually plated which I'm sure helps against lead deposits.

i go through hundred if not thousands of those, and the S&B slugs for practice. they are cheap, and work excellent while practicing. i leave the expensive stuff in the magazine for those just in case senarios.

S & B #4 Buckshot is awful

yeah ,#4 S&B doesn't quite have high brass kick like 00 premium loads.. I don't know if the 00 S&B is "medium" brass (not max dram).

the number 4 patterns ok with a choke and leading is non existent if your gun has a chrome-lined barrel . it's pretty much for practice, small game or tin cans. I suppose it could be used effectively for self defense with the right gun, but it patterns wide out of cylinder barrel tubes.

it is about 30 cents per shell, so no reason not to buy a few boxes to try it out.

you might want to see if Estate still offers their reduced recoil 00 buck. I did a defensive course and this stuff patterned better than the other big name brands. I went home with a case I purchased from one of the guys there. we had the time to check all differrent types in my gun that day. S&B performed the worst.
