howdy folks. :D just thinking...I have some black powder shotshells I want to use on birds. Is the lead different then using modern shotshells ? I thinking swing thru bird, pull the trigger..lapse time a few milli-seconds "bang".I'm way in front of the bird, but will the slowness of the shell ( 2 3/4 dram/ 1oz load)balance out my longer lead? I figured, I ask before I started blowing holes in the air, wondering where my shots are going.
thanks ahead of time Ed

Ed,
I'm guessing that the velocity on those is around or slightly below 1200fps. Not any different than many hunting loads. I just spent 5 of the last 10 days hunting pheasant with some brass cartridges I loaded using 3 drams ffg and 1oz. of #6 shot. I didn't have any more problems hitting birds than I normally do :) . I did have to put up with comments like " that one was flyin' like its tail was on fire, wait, it was on fire!"
