Does anyone know anything about shooting (shotgun sports) in Germany these days? I know as recently as 2003 the Army had skeet and trap fields on some of their posts. Does anyone know whether this is true still? What about at German clubs? I know they compete in the Olympics--is this an indication that private citizens over there can do it on their own?

I'll be stationed in Germany soon, and I'm trying to figure out whether I'll be able to keep shooting. Appreciate any input from anyone living there now or who lived there within the last couple of years, with the Army or otherwise.

A friend of mine visited over there last fall. He asked about the hunting and shooting with the locals and the outlook wasn't good. Since the greens got in they have been closing down trap & skeet ranges due to lead.

As far as what's available on-post, I have no idea.

There were plenty of clubs in Germany when I left in 81. And there are still some left. There is a lot more available to the GI stationed there than a civilian just visiting.
