Anyone know if he is in the area? I have tried to contact him mulitple times of late, both with email, and through this site.

No response as of today, out of town maybe?

Thanks, ronryder

He's building a new computer. Old one crapped out on him.
That and I think he's busier than all get out at work.

Shoot me your PM's and I'll see what I can do.

One computer? That's like having one shotgun, just doesn't compute. Maybe he should go down to Wallyworld and pickup an Acer (Baikal of the computer world) for $399 as his beater...

Could be worse, he could use Compaq :D like the new "club" from which I'm typing. :D

I recommend he save for a few more months and pick up a used D computer.

Nah man, those Compaq's are nice boxes. A buddy at my computer club has one of those Compaq's and he can outprogram any Dell guy. It's not the computer, it's the guy behind the keyboard.
Yep, its the nut behind the trigger too, they say.

I know one thing, after using a mac, it would take a gun to my head to switch back to a PC.

yep, a little more money, earned back after about two years of not paying for virus protection and constant updates from Zone alarm, or whoever.

I will update Jip with what I needed to discuss with Shotgunworld, am glad to hear he is OK of course.

thanks to all, I am kind of new here at this forum, from all evidence, a typical batch of good gun guys.

thanks, Ron Ryder

I hate computers. Unfortunatley, Im forced to work on one all day. Macs are great if you're into graphic design and games, but are rough for business applications. Sold my mac and a buddy talked me into an Alienware PC. That thing has never had a hiccup, nor has it been turned off in 3 years. Fast as all get out too. You could call it a Pre-64 action if you want.

Ok, no more talk about computers. Im going to be sick....
We'll all be on Macs sooner than you think.

There's a reason you've heard how wonderful they are.

Roger.

If he buys a computer that is the Baikal of the computer world, that thing will last forever.

The key is to find a computer that fits you. You don't want to have to get aftermarket mice and keyboards if you can help it, although I hear the PolyPuter II is awesome.

Lots of good operating systems but they all get dirty (viruses, spyware, malware, etc). I use Breakdown 1FU on all my computers, followed up with some ClenzKoil to keep the hardware in shape.

My family has used D computers ever since my great grandpappy had stock in the company. I was the first to stray to the fancy Alienware computers because they were insert-ya-driven. Performance worth the price. Now Dell owns Alienware, go figure. I'm passing my D computers and the specialty Alienwares down to my kids.

If you can find any of the pre-D Alienware computers, they are sweet to use. You can work your a$$ off all day long on one. There are a couple on pcbroker.com this week.
