Today was the fourth day of the season that I hunted. I missed last weekend due to a two day bass tournament. Fortunately it was the last one of the year and now I can concentrate on putting a bird or two in the freezer. It was the coldest day yet and there was light frost on the ground. That's probably mild where you live but in Florida it's been a little colder than average the last couple of days.

Snipe, I got bit by the snipe hunting bug last year. Went out today with my best friend, his dad and his 9yoa nephew. Gave my buddy & his dad all the shots as I wanted to teach his nephew about hunting. They got 4 birds before I had to leave for work. Opening day 2 of us shot 10 snipe in about 30 minutes before we went into the dove field. We had a ton of rain last week that has submerged most of our fields, so some of the birds that were holding must have left for higher ground. We have never seen this many snipe this early in the season in our fields, so I think we are in for some stellar hunts. Good hunting!!!

Those look like the birds my pup pointed the other day. We were in ankle deep mud field next to saltwater marshes. I always assumed they were plovers but reading up on snipes, there have them in our state.

I decided this morning I needed to walk off some of that food I ate yesterday so I headed to the marsh. The only thing that could have made it better was if it had been a little cooler. Sunny skies and seventy-five degrees might sound good to you guys that are snowed in but it's no fun when you're walking through mud and water.
