Where does everyone get their patterning paper?

I've tried looking for construction or heavier paper but 30" width is about as wide as I can find. It would be nice to have something in the 36-40" range. I thought of the backside of wrapping paper but I think it would be too thin.

Thanks in advance

I use packing paper from a local moving supply house. It comes in reams with the paper cut to 36" square sheets or in large rolls. You can get a ream of 500 sheets or a roll of the paper for about $5.00. I tape it to a large piece of cardboard (old boxes from the same supply house) to get a fairly decent pattern. Hope this helps---AFG

I go to a store which sells paper goods and plastic silverware to churches and civic groups. They have rolls of paper that is used as table covers. It is 40"wide and works fine unless you want to save it. I don't, so it is no problem. It is a little bit of a hassel to lay out and cut, but the prce is right.

One of the guys in my gun club uses heavy ***** paper that he gets from O'Rielly's auto parts store. The paper is 36" wide and comes in rolls and was designed for masking off cars for painting. He really likes it due to the thickness of the paper. Just another idea that I have seen---AFG

I bought a bunch of close out christmas wrap to use as pattern paper, the backside is usually white or offwhite.

There is a place here that is a Schoolcraft dealer in school and art supplies and they have various types of craft paper by the roll and in various widths.

I read somewhere that another person went to the local newspaper and bought the end of the reel paper.

I use end rolls from the local newspaper. When the big rolls get down to the end, they're pulled off the press. Most papers sell these "end rolls" for almost nothing. You can usually get a roll with maybe 300-500 feet left on it for two or three bucks.
