I have usually shot my field model guns but now have started to purchase sporting models, mainly because I have found the many of the sporting models to have different handling characteristics than the similar field models and some features I prefer can be found or ordered on them. Of course, many of my "field" guns may be considered "target" guns; they have been fitted to me and some have had other tweaks done to them like lengthened forcing cones, new recoil pads, recoil reducers, overboring, etc. Field guns can do great jobs in the target arena but sometimes a dedicated gun will allow one to do the job better.
