I'm in the process of repairing an Ithaca (SKB) Model 100 in 12 gauge with splits in the head of the buttstock. I'll epoxy the splits.

Since this model has curves in the rear of the action, is it advisable to glass-bed the head area? Has anyone else encountered this type of split or crack? Suggestions welcomed....

The gun is in very good condition, except for this single problem.

PM I believe 'Fred Willis' on this forum as he has restocked/glass bedded the stock on an M100. He, I'm sure, will have some tips. I think he also used some kind of steel stud to keep this from happening in the future.
