I am trying to get my dad's shotgun back togather, but received it in peices. I got the brochure from remington and a catalog showing breakdown. However, I am confused on one thing. The Action Spring Stop has a small spring on it. Which way does it go - towards the magazine spring or the opposite way. It appears to go toward the magazine spring, yet I can't load a round into the magazine tube. I am curious if anyone else has a Spt-58 that might help with this assembly and hopefully get this thing fixed. It also had a broken follower latch - What the heck does that do?

Basically, I disassembled the gun and cleaned everything pretty well. Dried all the parts that had oils on them, then did a basic reassemble. Carefully adjusting the parts in their housings made the fits a little better. After putting everything back together the bolt slides back completely every time.

Hope this helps!
