Hello everyone. I need some guidance here.
So I bought a 1979 870 wingmaster, left model, modified choke. The problem is that here in Norway lead shot is basically banned and other non toxic metals are very expensive (6$ shot) but steel shot is inexpensive.
My question is, can I use steel shot in my gun without damaging the barrel? I've read that it is supposed to be okay if the pellets are size 2 or smaller and the gun have a choke less tighter than full but I've seen conflicting answers on different forums. The majority says it's okay but some says that you can't use steel at all.
Is there anyone here that have experience using steel in a 870 and what was your result? Can I use steel without risking damaging the barrel? Thank you
