Any one had any experience with the Stevens 555 Trap. I have the 555 E and really like the gun. I have recently started Trap and I don't want to spend a lot on a trap gun. Just wondering if there is any feedback on this gun.

I just looked at one at wal mart. Surprisingly it was there! Nice looking gun. Adjustable comb, nice recoil pad. Nice ribbed 30 in barrel. One thing I noticed, if it would make a big difference? Was they use brass beads front and mid. I'd like to try one myself think it was 559.97.
I ended up picking one up from my local Bass Pro. Took it to the range today. Shot 3 rounds of Trap and did fairly well. Shot about 80%. Still adjusting the comb. First time with an adjustable comb, so still tweeking.

I've been pleased with my little 555e .410 - the comb is a little high for my liking but I'm impressed with the quality of the build so far.
Finally got the comb adjusted. Went out today and shot a 21 in a gusty 25 mph cross wind .
Second round was a 20. The gun is working great and was well received at my club. Shot along side 20 grand worth of guns and found they missed more than me. Only been shooting trap since February, and not much due to the weather. Didn't want to spend a lot until I get my feet wet in the sport. So far so good.as oh and did a pattetn test with 1 oz 7.5 and it shoots about 70/30 65/45ish.

Great to hear. I picked up one for my son who just started to shoot trap. So far so good, have been happy with it.

From what I can tell, there are a lot of good quality reasonably price shotguns around that preform really well. It just seem there are a lot of people who think spending money means you get more.

The bt99 you have for singles and caps, adj.comb on your 725 Sporting for doubles would have been proven reliable choices, especially for long term reliability and future parts availability if ever needed. JMHO

I bet there is a good reason a lot of people think that.

I shot 22/25 and 21/25 yesterday in a cold wind at my trap club with my 555. They shoot great! I shoot it even better than my new BT-99 that I just bought...LOL!

Yeah. Its called marketing for the most part. Sure sometimes money does equal higher quality. Not always though.

For the $600 the Stevens 555 trap cost.....I'd say it's a good value. My sons got about 5,000 round trough it since march. Zero problems. Won a lot of medals & done well. I took him to look at the higher end guns. He wanted to keep his & likes it.

If we all want this sport to surrvive , and grow with kids. We simply need more guns like the Stevens 555 trap. Sure the gun manufactures can con rich old men like us into dropping thousands on a hobbie to have the best. However, if the manufactures don't get these kids into shooting.....to defend gun rights.....they might not have a business.

Trap has really grown the last few years for school kids in my state, keeping it affordable for average families is a really true need. I only hope more companies will make solid affordable guns.
