I recently aquired a Stevens 12 ga. double barrell 24" "rabbit ears" from family.
The only marking is J. Stevens A & T Co. Chicabec Falls, Mass. USA -Pats. Appl'd For- on left side of lock, and Stevens on butt plate.
No model or serial numbers found and no indication they have been removed.
Stock and forearm are checkered
I've been told it could be as much as 100 years old. It's solid, no rust, appears to be in firing condition althought it has been used a lot as indicated by the worn butt plate and dings on the stock but,the only damage to stock is a split off piece at the lock.
Can anyone I/D and give appx. value
Thanks

Thanks for quick reply. Both guns are very simular to the one I have.
The hammers on both are indentical to mine.
Additional info. Barrells are marked with serrated (for lack of better word) indicating it shoots 2 3/4" shells.
The only basic difference I can see is that mine has 24" barrells and have the same choke (whatever that may be). As you can tell I'm not expert on guns. How do you tell what the choke is if there are no markings?

Are you positive on the 2 3/4 inch chambers? Are they stock or reworked? the reason I ask is 2 3/4inchers are more of a smokeless length, for instance my 1893 Win pump has a 2 5/8 in chamber, it was designed for blackpowder. Are the barrels damascus or fluid?

I am VERY happy to find another one of these! I was beginning to think I had the only one!
I'll try to post a pic of mine......as usual, ALWAYS looking for any info on this one....

About 20 years ago my grandpa gave me an old side-by-side double bbl shotgun. At that time he told me that he knew it was 110 years old and that his grandpa gave it to him. Bbl length is 32in. Side hammers. Double triggers. Original buttplate says Stevens. It is NOT a Damascus Wire Twist. One bbl is full choke and the other is modified. Shoots a very nice and tight pattern. Very light kick but, the bbl jumps WAY up.
On the left side it says, "J. Stevens A & T Co"
Next line it says, "Chicopee Falls Mass. U.S.A."
Third line says, " - Pats. Appl'd For -
Notice it says "Applied" for and not "Pending."
SN = 21244 All matching

I take it out and shoot it every now and then. It will shoot 2 3/4 shells but, I prefer to shoot target loads because I think it was designed for 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 shell.

The listing for the second double barrel is what I have. I received the gun after my father passed away. He received it from his dad when he passed away. When he had the gun he was in the process of taking it a part and was going to convert it to black powder.

Needless to say, it was in pieces. At the time I had then all but have since lost the triggers and what ever mechnamism they were attached to. I have the stock but would like to replace it. Everything else is in good condition.

Is there a place I can buy the trigger assembly and stock?

Any information would be appreciate.

Here is the link that corresponds to the Stevens I have.

The "A&T Co" markings were used from 1886 to 1916, so lamplighter is right about the age, however if the 2-3/4 chambers are original I would expect it to be closer to 1916. Of course, if this mark is different than the other markings, perhaps it was marked by the gunsmith who lengthened the chambers. Ripster, I think you're going to have a long search for parts. Would be easier to buy the whole gun then sell off the leftovers. You should be able to find one for under $200.
