I am looking for a good 3.5" semi-auto and I have narrowed it down to the SX2 or the 912. I don't like the o-ring on the gas piston of the 912, the SX2 seems simpler. I inquired with a dealer about the SX2 and he said that it has been recently discontinued. Is this true? I believe both of the guns are better than I will ever need, so please give me a specific reason as to why one gun is better than the other.

So did the dealer have a 912 and not an X-2?

I certainly haven't heard anything about the X-2 being discontinued, and would likely be my choice if for no other reason but ease of adjustment to fit, and the 912 has alot of drop at comb----at least for me. I don't think 912's have adjustable spacers for stock fit.

That said, I wouldn't worry alot about the O-ring, today that is nearly a non-issue unless you shoot 30K rounds a year, then other factors become involved.

I think the X-2 still has the rebate on it as well.

Both are very good guns with even better prices. If the SX2 is a W/B model, they are discontinued in the 3 1/2" model.
The SX2 is an easy gun to clean but the 912 is even easier. Both guns hold five shells total without the plug. Both have ribs that are on the tall side. They have similar weights and good balance. The 912 balances with more weight towards the stock than the SX2. The 912 has an automatic magazine cutoff while the SX2 does not have any cutoff. The trigger is better on the SX2 in terms of creep. The safety is at the back of the trigger gaurd for the SX2 and in front on the 912. The 912 comes with shims for the stock and the SX2 has them available. The 3 1/2" SX2 has 1 3/4" drop at the comb to the 912's 1 1/2" drop. Drop at the heel is 2 1/4" for the 912 and 2" for the SX2 3 1/2". The 912 has a big feel to it where the SX2 3 1/2" feels more like a 3" model. The SX2 has the $100.00 rebate to the end of this month.
Either one is a good choice as they are well made and reliable. Neither is really any better than the other, just different. I would think that just by holding one right after the other. You should beable to determine which one YOU like the best.
