Gents,

I have an older 311 Stevens with the 30" barrels. I think they made more of these than the M1 Garand . Was thinking about having threaded choke tubes installed and barrel shortened to 26" or so.

My question: Is it the likely the point of impact will change significantly? I was not sure where the greater bent area of the barrels was...

Any Ideas?

Being that we are talking about a mass produced gun! you do not have to worry about any barrel regulating.

Check with briley on haveing chokes installed you will have to mic the o.d. of your barrel at the cut point to insure you have enough meat to install the tubes. you are however looking at $450.00 or better for the service.

I have noticed Briley is nearly double the price of lesser known choke installers such as hastings and colonial.

Any reason I should avoid Colonial and Hastings?

Nope. Colonial does good work.

I only go to Briley if the barrels are too thin for Thinwall Tru-Chokes.

The 311 barrels should be thick enough for Colonial's Thinwall Choke Tubes.
