One of the most beautiful guns that I own is a grade 2 NID 10 ga magnum with special order 34" barrels, Miller trigger, beaver tail forend, ejectors and special order upgrade checkering. Simply gorgeous!
In 1965 the year I graduated from high school, my Dad found a cased pair of Model 21s in a classified ad in the Washington Post. We went to see the guns. My personal college fund had more than the half asking price of the guns, $1000. My tuition and books were a bit less than I expected them to be, so I offered up $500 as half the price of the guns, if my Dad would buy the second gun. They were an outrageous pair, cased by Purday, so we went home with them. My half of the purchase is long gone, but my Dad's mint 28" 20 gauge Skeet Grade is still in the gun room, resting in the case. I think "those were the days".
