I am 71 and no longer enjoy carrying my 1963 Belgian Browning O/U. I hunt only quail and dove....may want to tune up on SK and SC. Is the Synergy 20 gage sporting in 28" the gun for me? What do the ports really accomplish? Will I need ear protection when hunting? Will appreciate any and all opinions. slopoke

yes, you will need ear protection when firing that gun. porting is loud! If your concerned about the porting issue, you can get a hunter model cynergy 20gauge with 28 inch barrels that are not ported. The nice thing is it will probably cost you less! Take a look at the models, I think you will be very happy with a cynergy!

You are correct. The Field grade is around a 1000 bucks cheaper. I'm not sure about all the differences. Besides no ports, it looks like the field version has a cheaper tube system and lower grade wood? Correct? It is available in 28" and 26". I would prefer 28" for the dove fields but 26" may be just a tad quicker for quail. Where I hunt they go behind a bush in a hurry. Your thoughts?

I'd like to hear from someone who shoots a 20 Cynergy. Thanks.

My cynergy came with grade 1 wood, the same grade on most of the other introductory grades. The barrel is identical to the others except for the gauge demention. They have 28 inch barrels for the 20 gauge. Very good deal in my eyes.
