I am considering buying my first gun online (Citori 525 field), and I am wondering if anyone has bought or had good/bad experiences with Tex-Pro Shooting Sports from Midland, TX. Any info would be helpful.

I live in Midland and have met Lane(the owner). He is a nice guy, and his prices are hard to beat. I will probably buy my next new gun from him. I used him for a dealer transfer earlier this year and he is a straight shooter. You can probably even give him a call and talk to him. He sells so many guns on gunbroker, that I would not feel any trepidation in using him for a purchase.

Thanks everyone. I am picking up my Browning 525 Field tomorrow at my FFL. Lane at Tex-Pro was great to work with. They shipped fast and acknowledged every question I had in a timely manner. I will definately buy from them again in the future.

Cheers!

I have bought 3 shoguns from that store in the past 2 years....I got better customer service with them than i did with the local shops around my home...which is in georgia....those guys over at tex pro not only know there stuff but also have a great selection....Lane handled with me all 3 times and he answered more than enough questions..I highly recommend dealing with him!

Just bought 525 sporting rare left hand, Lane is great to deal with quoted a price to me months ago that was less than he had it advertised when I was ready to buy, cost 2169.00 with 30.00 shipping to Hawaii gun came in sealed original box all wrapped from factory with papers. I would not hesitate to buy from Lane again. FFL paperwork handle easily no hang-ups.

For those that may be in the area and are wondering.....Tex-Pro does not operate a store front. He is strictly an online/telephone order operation. You can call him and talk to him about the gun you are considering purchasing. He is a straight shooter. TT - they may have not been able to get in touch with Lane if he was for some reason out of town. Keep trying him, he has always been responsive in the past.

I bought an SX-2 from Tex-Pro in December --- and I echo the good comments about dealing with Lane . One really positive aspect was that when I talked with him initially , he said that they were running a special on the particular gun I wanted BUT that the special would be over on "such" date . I tried to exercize the "Option" but it was before Christmas and couldn't get through to him before the deadline which was on a Saturday. When I finally reached him on a Monday , I told him that I felt that since I couldn't reach him , he should honor the price he had quoted me. He said he was sorry ,the price had changed --- it went down about $30 .

He could have charged the higher price because I said that I would buy the gun at that price .

If -- the Lord forbid -- I ever get the urge for another "New" gun , I'll shop there first .
