Hey all,
just wondering if anyone has ever "Line-X'd" they're stocks. I'm not talking about actually taking it to the Line-X place, but buying one of those "Herculiner" kits and doing them yourself.
I really like the texture of the SA SOCOM (looks like Line-X)
It's an interesting idea, although it seems like you could probably get an after market stock with the right texture that isn't a paint that could eventually wear away.
I haven't used a LineX type on my stuff, but I did buy a forearm and stock from a local gun store with a similar coating. Honestly don't know what it is, but it appears and feels to be some sort of rubberized coating that was sprayed on. It works well with gloves or bare handed. A friend owns the gun store and he had done up a bunch of these for the local sheriff's dept years ago for their 870s and had a few left over sitting in a box. I'll ask him what it was next time I get over there. It really works well and must be cheap. I gave him less than the cost of new Rem parts for the coated plastic set.
I used a bed liner spray on my father-in-law's 10/22. I over sprayed it with matte olive drab, and it turned out pretty good. I seems to be holding up well after a year of regular use.
