Cheers all,

I'm looking to purchase a Beretta 20/28 combo and would love to hear people's opinions. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I don't really see the purpose. The 28 won't be any lighter than the 20, therefore no advantage when carrying afield. If the 28 gauge barrels were a lot heavier, it might be good for high volume shooting (skeet, doves, etc.) to reduce recoil and smooth the swing, but that is not the case either. So what is the advantage?

The 20/28 combo is on the 20 gauge reciever. Actually the 28 gauge will be about 2-4 oz heavier than the 20 gauge because the 28 gauge barrels must be thicker at the breech to mate with the reciever. There is absolutely no advantage to purchasing the combo other than having a set of 28 gauge Barrels. The 28 will weight about 6#'s 4oz with 28" barrels. the smaller frame Beretta 28 gauge will weigh just shy of 6#'s, certainly not enough of a weight difference over the 6#'s 2 oz of the 20 gauge to justify its use for upland hunting.-Dick

I have the Silver Pigeon II (28") 20/28 combo.Use the 20 for dove and the 28 for quail. Just love the combo gun. I guess thats why they make all kinds of shotguns for all kinds of people. It keeps us happy!

I'm going out Sunday to test fire a used 686 silver pigeon combo with 20ga/28" and 28ga/28". Any thoughts on worth? What to look for? Shooting advice?

Thanks

Ahhhhh my dream sub-gauge combo.....It will be my next gun in 28" barrels.

I have seen 686 combos for between $1800 and $2500 and 687 combos for between $2300 and $3600. You can also go down the route of purchasing a 686 SP 20g and sending it to Cole Guns and for around $1000 they will put a 28g barrel on it.

Did you buy one?
