Trap after a long break

Last night for the first time in 6 years, I pulled my shotgun out of the safe and went to the range. To make a long story short I had a blast.

Before my son was born, I had shot a couple of rounds of Sporting clays, and allways had a good time. But work and time demands kept me from going.

I was talking to one of my IDPA buddies told me that our local trap and skeet club shoots on wednesday night for 6 to 11. And that he would be shooting. So I took the plunge and went.

I was suprised how little it cost. One round of trap or skeet was $4.50.

Over the last few years I had some how lost my choke tubes, so I was stuck with the full that my gun had in it. After watching a few guys shoot I decided that trap looked like a better match to my full choked pump gun.

How did I do, well I broke 21 out of 25. I was happy with my self.

Any way I know that it won't be another 6 years before I go again. :)

I used to shoot an occasional, informal round of trap and shot in a league one season about 20 yrs ago. Was never serious about it - had sold my trap gun and hadn't even set foot on a trap range in over 15 yrs. Last spring I got the bug to shoot a little trap - bought an old beat up Bt-99 and just went nuts. I wound up shooting 1,300 registered targets in 2002, bought two more trap guns and shot 2,500 registered targets in 2003, plus about that many practice targets. Now I just can't get enough!
