Im a 13 year old kid and just got done with my first state trap meet. I got a good score(87-100) And my birthday is coming up and my dad said he was going to buy me a new gun for trap and hunting. Ive looked around and the ones i like are the Beretta 390-391 sporting,Benelli super black eagle and the stoeger (imported by benelli) 2000. Now the first two are pretty spendy and my dad does not want to pay that mutch so im left with the stoeger which is a pretty reasanble gun. I dont know anything about it though. Do you have any suggestions or other guns i could look at. And do you have any comments about the stoeger 2000.

My dad has a super black eagle and he likes it a lot, although it does kick a lot. I've heard nothing but good things about berettas, but as you said, you'll pay for it (IIRC the beretta is cheaper than the super black eagle though). I've heard that Stoegers are good guns as far as reliability is concerned, but that the fit and finish isn't very good.
I would highly recommend the Winchester SX2. I have one (it's my first shotgun) and I like it a lot. About half a dozen other people have fired it and said they couldn't believe the recoil was so soft. It's not a big deal to clean (which I've heard is often an issue with gas guns) and, not that it really matters, but it has the claim to fame of being the fastest cycling shotgun in the world (faster than the benellis). The winchester is also cheaper than the Benelli and Beretta. My field model was $600 from outdoor world. Also, I'm pretty sure you can get the sporting model, which has 2 more chokes, shims for the stock, comes with a second gas piston for lighter loads, and has a couple other extra features, for under $900. The only problem with the Benelli and winchester (and probably the stoeger too) for trap shooting is there aren't any shell catchers available for them. Although I've sent emails back and forth to a guy who's working on one for the winchester (www.tommortonandcompany.com). I have one of his recoil reducers, and it's definitely good quality, so I'll probably also buy the shell catcher when he finishes it. Hope that helps.

Deadbird,
I like the Beretta semi-autos, I think they are the best out there. If you are OK with a used gun, there are many 390s out there that can be had for under $500, often in the $450 range. This is the model that preceded the 391. I have a Winchester SX-2 but I do like the Beretta better. You could also get a used Remington 1100 for roughly the same price as the Stoeger. I have no personal experience with it but I'm leery of the Stoeger as I've been bitten in the past by inexpensive guns. I'm the one who can find the lump of coal in a diamond mine. Others have had much better luck than me so take my words with a bag of salt. Whatever you get, keep up your shooting and congratulations on your state shoot.

Ive heard the berettas are heavy is this true? And thanks for the info it really helps. Im sorry i dont know all the gun terms but what does fit and finish mean. :p
just the general feel of the gun. I've heard that the stocks of stoegers feel cheap. Like the stocks aren't very good quality wood.

I have a beretta 390 that i purchased new for 500$. It is a very light gun. It is very dependable....has never jammed in 2 years....shooting all sizes of shells from light dove shells to heavey 3in mag BBB's. I love the gun and have no regrets.

by the way....anything that shoots 3 1/2's....is gonna kick alot

Why is that? I understand that a 3.5" shell is going to kick a lot. But even shooting the same 2 3/4" shells, my dad's gun kicks a lot more than mine
