Hello I'm new to this forum. Thought I might run a question by you guys. I am shooting an old Stevens 235. Shooting trap loads it works great but I took it out hunting today. The recoil from the heavier loads is causing the left hammer to fall when you fire the right barrel. Do you think this could be caused by a weak sear spring? :?

Yes, it's possible that could be the cause of the problem. Also a shallow sear/hammer notch could also be the problem. Shouldn't be too hard to fix either of the situations by a competent gunsmith or good handyman/mechanic.

The sear engagement to the tumbler looks good. Deep and sharp. That is why I am suspecting the sear spring. Thanks for the reply.
