The wife and I made a road trip to Ultimate Sportsmen's range this past weekend. There are some nice things in works here. The owners were hard at work on a covered picnic pavilion overlooking a new lake. They told us there are plans to stock birds (quail, chukar, pheasant), elk and some exotic game on the surrounding acreage. IIRC the quail and a few elk are already there.

A 12-station Sporting Clays range is operational as is the Trap/Skeet field and 5-stand setup. We only shot the SC course, which has the first 4 stations in an open field then 8 stations in the woods along a trail, which could easily accommodate a cart. Presentations were a nice mixture of crossers and angles with no impossible targets (all report pairs this week) BTW, we had ZERO broken targets thrown or mechanical failures from any trap.

Coming from western KY we took a scenic route through Dover and Camden, TN. From Nashville or Memphis the place is just 3-4 miles off I-40. Granted this area is out in the country, there are no 5 star hotel or restaurant next door… but Nashville is only an hour away…Having another place to shoot is always a good thing.
