What would be the normal price for this model?
My Aunt use to work at a WalMart and liked it, she never mentioned any problems at all.

Just had a thought though, she use to get an employees discount for anything she bought, I do not remember exactly how much it was but I am thinking it was 15%.

I wonder if the employees get the discount on guns and other sporting goods, would be nice if they did. Anyone know?

I believe that they do, based on posts by 37featherlight, who works sporting goods at a Walmart. He has mentioned a few guns he bought when the price dropped, and used his employee discount on top of that.

last I knew the 10% discount could not be used on clearance items but depends on whos paying attention. On price drops what is written above should be correct. I have a sister who works at Wally world as a manager who buys lots of stuff for herself.
Yeah, 10% is right. Can't be used on clearance items, but for whatever reason, most of the discontinued guns don't recieve clearance designation. They just keep issuing home office markdowns on them, which the discount card can be used on. I don't question their logic. I just take the deal & run.
I just bought an 870 Express Super Mag from Wal Mart as a Christmas gift. Took it to the skeet range with the gift recipient and it refused to eject about every other shell (all were factory shells and different brands). I have read that a lot of 870's have this defect recently but do not know if it is peculiar to Wal Mart guns. I do know that they come with only 1 choke tube. Anyone know if this problem is with 870's from everywhere? I know I can polish the chamber and probably stop the problem, but should not have to. Now I will see how well the warranty works.

I know the exterior of the gun gets considerably less attention than a Wingmaster, but I wouldn't have guessed Remington would turn out any firearm with an inferior operating mechanism. I'd be interested to know if this is a general phenomenon or an isolated case. Good hunting and good luck.
I LOVE Walmart and I don't shop there. I bought 20 blocks of Walmart stock 10 years ago!!!!!

Most Walmart/Kmart/Whatevermart bashers are absolute hipocrites. Everyone price shops and anyone who doesn't is simply an idiot. I price shop everything I buy and I buy it right here over this keyboard and it's delivered to the door. Ya'll need a lesson in Capitalism and stop trying to lean toward Socialism.

Let's see... You love Walmart but you don't shop there. You think people are idiots if they want some information and service when they make a purchase. You hate socialism but you own stock in a company that does a massive amount of business with a Communist dictatorship. You're entitled to your beliefs, but maybe you shouldn't be so quick to accuse other people of hypocrisy.

Beleive it or not... Not every town has a Wal-Mart. I work in a very small town and they are almost finished building our new SuperCenter and the nearest Wal-Mart is 35 minutes away.
From NO Wal-Mart to a new Super-Center? Wow-the town will never be the same again!!
i just bought an 11-87 sportsman for 498.97...528.80 after tax. considering that's $96.20 savings off the MSRP, i'm not complaining considering it was 599.99 at Bass Pro for the same thing. it's called economic darwinism...roll with it b/c its keeping our economy afloat.
Interesting discussion on Wally World. I have two points.

1) If you shop at Wally World for anything and are not already an informed consumer you are doing yourself a disservice. Remember the old addage price, quality, and service pick any two you want and deal with it.

2) The issue with "Walmart" guns failing and gun shops equal models not failing probably fall into the category of an issue I had with one of my customers in my professional world. (The electrical industy) I sold a customer on a particular product model from my company. Two years later he comes to me and says I sold him a piece of crap. Apparently in the last year he had seen approximately 100 failures and he just could not stand this and he did not understand why we had not done a massive recall since surely all of our other customers were seeing the same issue. When we investigated we determined that in two years he had seen roughly 120 failures; however, he had purchased 20,000 units (0.6 % failure rate, not bad). Walmart sells a lot of guns so they will sell more "bad" guns than Joe the Gun Guy because Joe doesn't sell nearly as many of that model. Of course he hasn't seen any issues.

PS. Customer backed down and commended us.

I like Wallyworld. I shop there. I've never bought a gun there, but that's because they don't carry the type of gun I am looking for. Also, the gun counter a the local stores I shop at are staffed by people that are either non-existant or not very helpfull.

A couple examples:
1. One Saturday evening I went in to buy 4 boxes of 28Ga for a sporting clays shoot the next day. I went to the gun counter (in CT all ammo is behind the counter) and asked for 28 Gauge Winchester AA #8's. The guy behind the counter said "You mean 20 Ga?". I said, "No, 28 Ga." "There ain't no such thing" was his reply. I walked out and took a 20 the next day.

2. Different Wal-mart, neighboring town. I go to the gun counter and tell the guy I want 20 boxes of 20Ga #8s and ask him if he has STS or AA. The guy looks confused and says "I only have boxes of 25."

That's not to say I haven't had good luck at Wal-mart. When I go to the store near my Dad's place (upstate New York) I can pick ammo right off the store shelves and they usually have a pretty good selection of .410 though 10 gauge.

The local gun dealers need to learn what Target learned: You can't compete with Wal-mart on price. Let Wal-mart have the Remmingtons. The local guy needs a rack full of Browning 525's, Beretta Tekneys, and some nice used doubles. Then, he'll get the descriminating buyer who doesn't mind shelling out $2K for a nice gun. At the end of the day, making $300 on a DT-10 is the same as making $30 on ten 870 Express'.
