I would agree it was most likely made in the 70's.

I have my grandfather's 20ga Ithaca 500 O/U and would like to know more about date of manufacture. It states "Made in Japan" on the barrel, I believe it was manufactured some time in the 70s.
I believe the serial number is CF 56705_
Can anyone help me out?
