I just received a Western Arms Corp. 12 gage double barrel shotgun from my father in law. The stock needs refinishing otherewise it looks in good condition. Do to his mental health I cannot ask him any questions about the gun so have been trying to look it up on the internet with little results. I know they were made by Ithaca from 1928 to WW2 as a low end shotgun. The serial number is 212XX. I am a pistol shooter so have limited knowledge of shotguns. Can this gun be used with modern ammo? Any special limitations due to the quality of the gun? Any information on this gun would be appreciated.

Thanks

Made as a low end gun? Maybe at the time, but its a heck of a solid gun right now.
