Just looking for some positive opinions. I know there is no magic pill that will make you a great shot. But what are some things that you feel have truly advanced your game? I’m not talking guns. That turns into a Ford vs Chevy that can go on forever. I’m talking gadgets, gimmicks, accessories etc that have had a positive influence on your shooting and why. Mine was my Pilla glasses. I resisted for years to spend that kind of money on eyewear. But honestly it has been my best purchase so far. A few different lenses for different backgrounds and light intensity. It has been a game changer for me. I rarely have issue with seeing the clay clearly now. Your turn!

The one item that has helped my ability to break targets the most is a precision fit stock. A precision fit stock ensures that the gun fits the shooter perfectly, which can help improve accuracy and consistency. Additionally, lessons from a good instructor can also help improve shooting skills.

I found that a dedictated clays gun made a lot of difference , i shot a Browning XS 30” ported and found it made a differance,But to qualify that my bird guns were all English stocked 20gauge side by sides double triggers vs the 12 gauge Browning plus they all weighed around 6 pounds or less vs 8 plus for the Browning, that made a difference too.

IMHO, if you really want to get better, aside from your eyesight, it's all about gun fit....then lots of practice. There is no substitute for pulling the trigger, and I'm not talking about shooting a fundraiser with your buddies on the weekends. If you really want to get better, identify the targets types that give you trouble, and practice, practice, practice.

Good coaching never hurts either.

I think this is a good thread to ask if anyone on here has ever tried the Senaptec strobe eye training glasses? I just read a piece in the NSCA mag. about this training device and apparently many in different sports including clay shooting are training with these. Personally I never even knew strobe glasses were a thing but it looks pretty interesting. , here's a couple link to check out.

Books... as both a shooter and coach, I have found information in the form of books the most valuable. YouTube and online sources are also very valuable, but books are especially nice because you can highlight relevant sections, and later compile into your own reference document. second would be the NRA shotgun level 1 coaching instruction that I received. Read, comprehend, implement. Repeat as necessary.
