While I don't shoot Olympic skeet I enjoy shooting low gun regular skeet with a .410 O/U. The current gun has a plastic hard pad. What would be the best type of pad to use for my style of shooting? Obviously I have no need for recoil reduction.

Since you seem to be looking for something that would let the gun slide into your shoulder pocket, what's wrong with what is already on the gun? It ought to be fairly slick.
A better solution would probably be the Pachmayer Decelerator. It has a hard insert at the heel of the pad to allow it to slide, but a soft face to keep it in place once in your shoulder.

The best pad for Olympic Skeet is no pad at all. Far better to have a wooden or ebonite butt plate fitted checkered around 18 lines/inch on the end then there is no chance of the stock snagging on your shooting vest as you mount the gun.

No pad will cure a bad technique.
I have seen many examples of this. A shooter is struggling with mounts and blames it on the pad - the next time I see him he has a new pad or electrical tape on the old pad; the pad still snags. He keeps at it for a while and then cuts down the stock because he thinks it's the LOP that's making it snag. Finally he gives up and stops shooting low gun.

Learn a proper way to mount and practice practice practice.

I don't use any pad at all on my .410 guns because the recoil doesn't justify the need for a pad. The best snag proof pad that I've used are covered with smooth leather.

Better than that pad is this Pachmayr pad....

It has a slick piece of rubber at the heel that slides over material.
That is the one I use and I only shoot Olympic Sheet as I live in Germany now.

Also, I use a vest that has no leather rather just cloth in the shoulder area.

It is more about the positioning of the gun at ready when you call and getting the gun up to your face than the equipment used though...

The Pachmayr SC100 is the only pad I put on my guns. It's pretty much perfect. Not quite as "squishy" as some of the Limbsaver and KickEez pads, put months much better and doesn't degrade over time like those.

That being said - I'm with the guys that probably wouldn't bother on a .410 unless you need the length.

No pad is best in my opinion. Hard slick leather would be my choice if I used one. I shoot low gun exclusively and I have no pads on any of my guns

I agree with both comments. There's no need for a pad on a .410 but, if you want one, this is the pad many recommend and I have on all my guns with pads.

I am not using pad in Skeet Shotgun for 12 g. I am using directly Oil finish wood pad. Cause it slip on Skeet Vest much more better and Skeet Shotgun already very heavy agasint recoil (3750 gr) . Skeet Cartiges doesnt recoil too much , This is not like slug.
