A Remington 870 I picked up for 180 bucks back in the early 80's. I bought it thinking I could use the heck out of it instead of ruining an expensive shotgun. I still have it, I can't count the birds I took with that gun and it still shoots lights out for me. I have a couple of expensive O/U's also now, but if the weather is bad or the country is rough guess which one I grab.

i think my 505 SKB has surprised me a bit more than the second hand 3200 i bought in the early 90's that i was shooting previously.
the 3200 hasn't been in to be rebuilt and has around 30 jillion [about 400 rds a week for over 10 years] rounds through it.
it does need the bottom pin area rebuilt now, but it'd still click along if i asked it to.

the 505 replaced it when i needed a bit lighter gun, a bit of stock fitting and a new firing pin spring and it's been pounding trap targets ever since then, only not at quite as high of a number anymore.

I have a thing against 16g shot guns but I had a Fox Sterlingworth that floated in your hands. You would swear it was a 20g. One of finest grousers I ever owned. Basically never was into 16s because a 20-3” was just as good. —-I know been through all the arguments 16 vs 20.

You're not wrong. The 3" 20ga killed the 16ga, and carries more payload than the 16ga. That's my rub with the 16ga. But my sweet 16...
