That's all I wanted to say.

Except this: Anyone here ever seen somethin' like this?

I've shot a couple, pretty fun but you might come away wanting the number of the nearest shrink, and if you see an advertising banner on the course of a local Psychologist-----you know you've been had

Probably the best rabbit presentation I ever saw was at one. This was at least 5 years ago, they had a R-L crossing ground rabbit at 25 yards that they had poured gasoline on, fastest rabbit I ever saw and had hay bales between the shooter and the rabbit, on report, another rabbit at 15 yards R-L that was the slowest rabbit I ever saw, it fell over behind two big round bales in about 30 feet-----it was set so it could not come out from behind those bales. I saw some very experienced Master shooters break every one of the fast rabbits, and miss a couple of the slow ones

You might also see a few 55 yard rabbits, don't think you can run them with an IC choke! Air rabbits are also legal in these, so practice up on Chondells. Squirrel targets are also legal.

At least I'm not the only one with an absurd sense of humour  Nice to know :) When I think of rabbits I think of Bugs Bunny. Except when I miss. Then they're not so funny anymore.

Thanks for the advice Tex ^o^ I can handle missing a couple of far away ones, it's the ones up close passing by that Bug me ;)

Usually, the setter rigs up a piece of 3" PVC pipe that follows the contours of a tree branch, the pipe has a slot cut in the top just enough so the target stands erect and rolls. All I've ever seen were hand loaded, a trapper in a protective cage rolls it on call.

The target free falls with nearly no speed, that isn't a problem unless it free falls from only a few feet. Sometimes it falls onto a trampoline and bounces laterally, like most, it's up to the imagination of the target setter to offer something different.

The best one I have seen came out fairly high, hitting separate pieces of plywood hung in the trees about every 5 feet, but changed directions each time (R-L, L-R) while falling. Not difficult shots unless you become amazed of such a thing being thrown. It looked like one of those plastic games with steel balls falling thru a maze, kinda fun.

Cathy and I first saw the squirrel target at Prince George County MD in the early 90's....loved it. We are working on that for one of our NSCA shoots, and a gravity rabbit.

The 25 rabbits shoot Purestoke refers to is on 12/26

We will have 5 singles, 6 report pairs and 4 TRUE pairs. We are not only arranging on-site trauma specialists but we will have a fleet of ambulances to take you to the local clinics for treatment

Just to make your pain more exquisite, there will be TWO shooting cages - you get to chose which one you shoot from..no complaints from the lefty shooters please AND you will chose which target you will shoot for your 5th Single bird...full use of the gun of course. And re-entry IS allowed.

Roger
(who wrecked his knee, is having surgery Tuesday and has stopped the painkillers so he can plan the next shoot  )

Tex, sounds like you've seen some pretty creative targets.

For the rabbit shoot, I'd be happy to skip the ambulance ride and psych debriefing if they'll just smack me up with a big dose of Valium afterwards
