I've read that for a long time, the 10-gauge was generally offered with 2⅞" chambers. When, exactly, did the 3½" loads become available and common?

I am not turning up via Google or in the reference texts I have handy. Just wondering. Thank you.

I don't know when, but it was introduced to throw more shot, obviously. It is a goose gun par excellence, but some people think it is obsolete. I disagree. If I was as rabid a hunter as I once was, I would still be shooting one.

Thanks for the information. Googling that turned up this, so the 1932 date sounds right.
