Just out of curiosity, where in the USA can a person purchase a new Miroku, say a MK70? I've never seen one in a store other than those carrying the "B" name.

I am really attracted to the Browning model 25, but looking at the pictures it appears that the MK70 looks like it's better finished. Unfortunately, pictures is all that I've seen so far.

The short answer is you can't buy Miroku in the US. Some sort of agreement exists with Browning. What you can do is set up an export arrangement to have one shipped from the UK. Andrew Litt (www.litts.co.uk) has done this many times and his contact details are on his site. However, given the current $/£ rate, the price would make your eyes water.....

As to fit & finish, the quality is the same as Browning. People here choose Miroku either because they prefer the handling or because they find the darker wood & the understated engraving looks more classy.

In terms of mechanicals, dimensions & weight etc. the MK70 is identical to the B425 and is available in both field and sporter versions.

I just happen to be a Gander Mountain the other day for something and I saw a Miroku on display. I can't tell you the model or even if it was used or not. However, I was in the section where they typically have their new firearms. All I know is it was a Miroku and a O/U.

Actually, after searching the web, I found a couple of ads for NIB 12ga Mk 70's with 30" barrels. They are priced at about $1650. I have couple of questions: First would this gun make a good "all around" shooter (hunting, sporting clays, skeet)? Second, is the price reasonable?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy the Miroku, or simply go with a Browning 525 field version.

The sporter is a good all rounder. Like I said, it's physically identical to the B425 and the sporter has mid rib bead and manual safety. I think the drop at comb etc is less too. Has the same Invector choke & barrel configuration as the Citori.

Good all arounder but a fit heavy for a long walk.

Price? It all depends on if the gun fits. The gun is the old invector Citori with different stock dimentions. The Citori's usually have a shorter stock (14-1/4") over a 1" recoil pad with DOC 1-5/8" and DOH 2-1/2". If that fits then you can find a little used one on the market for $1000, give or take.

If you want something with a bit more length go with the Miroku. The Miroku MK70 sporting 12ga 30" bbls w/3 invector chokes, 3" chamber, white front and mid beads, drop at comb 1 5/8", drop at heel 2 1/2", lop 14 3/4" to plastic plate, no palm swell, weight 7-3/4lb.

I've a MK60 thats a bit lighter but fixed 1/4 and 3/4 chokes. It's much livelier than the current Brownings. The pistol grip isn't nearly as tightly radius as the 525 and is much easier to carry. The 3/4 (IM) choke is a bit tight for close shots or steel shot, so it may be open to 1/2 (Mod).

I passed on a Browning 525 Sporting 12/30 yesterday. The fit (stock dimensions) were good, but I didn't really like the tight radius of the grip nor the palm swell. What killed the deal, however, were the ported barrels. After shouldering a customer's 425 in the gun shop, I think I'd jump on one of these if I could just find one. If that's what the Mk 70 is like, then I think I'd be really pleased with one, except I'd have to do something about the non-existent recoil pad.

A "heavy" gun doesn't really bother me too much - I'm pretty large (6'3" - 225 lbs). I started hunting many years ago toting an old Savage 12ga SxS and after that, almost everything feels light.

I like the Miroku as it has the features I wanted: 30 inch barrels w/o porting, 14-3/4 LOP, decent DOC/DOH, open pistol grip, and price. The other Browning gun that you may want to look at is the XS Sporting with 30 inch barrels w/o porting. It's a bit more expensive.

Most dealers have a 3 day inspection period. If the gun doesn't fit notify the dealer that you're shipping the gun back. The cost will be FFL and shipping fees. Good luck.

I was in Bass Pro in Denham Springs Sunday and they had two Miroku 28 gauge o/u's used on the rack that were in good shape.I may have bought one of them if the stocks did not have all of the nicks on them from people handling them so rough,the place was only open about 10 days and it was buck wild in there.
