I have a FN Police which I notice has picked up some of the paint from leaning against the wall at home. This is in grooves on the magazine cap. I was wondering if using a bronze brush to remove the paint from the grooves will damage the finish (manganese phosphate). I have tried just Hoppe's cleaner without success.

If it's just paint scraped off the wall, why not a stiff toothbrush? Less chance of scratching, I'd think..
Yup, Carb cleaner will take the paint off without damaging the finish as well.
