Does anyone have any experience loading the new HS .410 hull? I see they have a new wad for them specificly. What is the difference? What is so special about the .410 hull that requires a special wad. You don't need a special wad for the 12 or 20 ga new style AA hull. What is different or special about the new HS style wad that makes my normal wad unusable? If you do any .410 loading you know there are very few .410 wads available, and there is basicly ZILCH difference between any of them! Any load you can use the Rem wad in you can use the WW, Fed, or PC wad in with the same results. Just not a lot you can do with the internal capacity of a .410 shell by making a wad differently. I have some 3" HS hulls I scrounged the other night at practice night at the trap range and figured I'd load them up but don't have any of the new HS wads. I looked at some yesterday at Guns Unlimited in Omaha and didn't really see anything so special about them. Not having any in my hot little hand to actually measure and inspect, I'm wondering just why My current stock of either WW, Rem, of PC wads won't work?? Just curious, anybody checked the difference in wads or tried loading the new hulls without the new wads?? I suspect this is more or less a scare tactic from WW trying to get us to buy thier wads only?

I loaded my first 410 HS hull today. I shot a case of them and finally (with the aid of the board members) found a load that will replicate the 1300fps that they were originally loaded at. The HS wads are definitly different then regular WW410 wads. They are very similar in dimension to the regular wads but the plastic is a lot stiffer then the regular 410 wads. That said if you check out Hodgden's web data they have load data for Winchester's HS that use all types of wads. Check it out. I am using their H110 powder and the HS wads. I loaded up three boxes I will have to see how they shoot Tuesday night at league.

I guess I didn't go directly to the Hodgdon site, I did look at the Grafs site and scoured all thier data. Found Winchester data to be the only available for the HS hull. I took a big plunge a few minutes ago, I loaded up 2 with 18 gr of 4227 and the PC wad. As soon as I get a chance I'll give them a try. I'm not really too worried about the powder charge since I have used 18 1/2 gr in several other hulls over a period of time quite sucessfully. Actually in studying the Winchester data they seem to list MORE powder with the HS hull relative to the same load in the older compression formed hull. The loaded shells look just fine coming out of my MEC 600 JR. But since My Chronograph decided not to work today I'll have to find a substatute before I give them a try. I ALWAYS like to run my first trial loads over the chronograph just to be sure everything is going the way it is supposed to!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll go to the Hodgdon site and check it out. I don't have any 110, but I do have lil'gun and 296, 2400, and 4227!
