I recently aquired a Winchester Ranger semi auto that used to belong to my wife's grandfather. The gun has little sentimental value but it is my first shotgun that I can call my own (Not the firstI've used). I just intersted in general opinions of this gun mainly. I'm also curious if the parts for this gun are interchangable with the 1400. I wouldn't mind getting a walnut stock for it with a recoil pad. (any suggestions on retailer's? My understanding is the Ranger is the budget version of the 1400. So what are the differences really? Is it merely cosmetic (like the stock ) or are there real differences internally?

I have one as well. It is identical to my dads 1400. I have shot about 400 rds of trap with it with no problems. just getting started
