Does anyone have or shot a Winchester Supreme Select Sporting? I suspect Winchester doesn't make the gun and wondered if anyone has any information about this gun or would recommend purchasing it? I'm in the market for a sporting shotgun but need to stay under near or under $1400. Is that even possible? Thanks!

I own and regularly use a Winchester Supreme Select Field. The price was about $930 from a relatively high priced outlet. (Gun shop and indoor range)The gun (Supreme Select Sporting) is still in production, although from a slightly different manufacturer...Winchester GunsI wouldn't trade my Field for anything, yet.

I shoot one of the Win. Supremes that I bought last fall, but I see on the Win. web-sight that they have made some real nice changes to the gun and now call it the Supreme Select. Lighter barrels, better wood, etc. I have called several gun shops and not one have seen one yet. They are still made by F.N in Belgium

Technically, Winchester does not make any guns. Winchester guns are made by the US Repeating Arms Company, or by some other factory for them. They bought the rights to the name as well as the factory some years back. I looked one over at a gun shop this last week. The parts all moved well, and the action was not difficult to open yet did not feel loose. Fairly light for a 12 as well. It is probably a good gun for the price.

I have a supreme sporting select and I cannot keep the fore arm adjustment screw tight on the forearm lock and this keeps the forearm bracket tight on the receiver. I called the service shop and they told me to turn the screw to the right ! Isaid thanks a lot and hung up the phone. THIS GUN SUCKS!

Sorry you had such a bad experience with it. I have a Supreme Sporting with 5000 conservative rounds through it and the only detract from it was the plating on the trigger flaked off in the first two weeks. Other than that, this gun is still tight and smokes em today just like it did out of the box. Good luck.

Well.....Friday night I bought a 2003 Supreme Select Sporting.

Got a good deal and was a happy camper......
till today when I cleaned her all up and was ready for some shooting with my new sweetie.

I put some snap caps in, closed 'er up, turned the safety off and pulled the trigger. Click. Pulled the trigger again, no click!

Turned the safety on, then off, then she clicked.

Something's screwed up in the safety!!!! :evil: :x :evil:

Last night when I was showing her off to my wife I heard a tick sound. Whenever I turned the gun (rib up) between the 10 and 2 position it would tick. Really! Sounded like a clock. I though.....hmmmmmm. Doesn't sound right but who knows? (I swear I didn't hear this in the shop.)

What a bummer. Hopefully, without screaming and yelling, the shop will take 'er back. I could understand if this happened after it was fired but new outta the box? I can't see paying to ship this back for repair work when it was defective from the get go.

Well.....I called the gun shop this morning to explain the problem with the gun and....there's no problem.

The recoil sets the second barrel to fire. They told me to dry fire it and then bump it on the floor. Yep, the second barrel fired.

Sheesh.... I'm embarassed.

The ticking noise in the receiver is normal too.
