Cant help with a comparison, but if my new SX-4 holds up nearly as good as my 20yr. old SX-2...I'll be happy...when they get banged against aluminum boats and fence posts ect. they'll all scratch...bet you would be happy with either

 

I have guns with both types of finishes. My main waterfowl gun is dipped and cerakoted. My snow goose gun and my daughter’s hunting gun are both hydro dipped. Both hold up fine. The hydro dipped guns are older, but I’ve got 3 seasons on my waterfowl gun. Honestly, I can’t see an advantage of one over the other. I do like the look of the cerakoted gun better.
