My wife just started shooting.
Same here. Just bought her a brand new Benelli Montifeltro 12 Gauge as she also wants to go hunting with me. Had it fitted athte gun shop where we bought it.

Took her out to the local gun club and tried a round of trap. Here first round and she shoots a 10/25. She really enjoyed that. THe shells were Win AA light targe loads of 2.27 dram 1 Once #8's. Looking forward to our next outing.

Mike

I have a few friends that shoot. I've been trying to talk a lady that works at the Post Office into a few rounds of clay with me or to go shoot some ducks. Hopefully she'll get some time and get out there with me.

I prefer shooting ducks upside of targets... That's just me though.

:)

Well, we'll put it this way...for those of you who know K4b00m from the site....it's all his fault. We started seeing one another a few months back, and I had NEVER fired any sort of firearm in my life. I was even pro-gun control at one point years ago. Now I'm a member of the NRA...life works in strange ways.

I love it, and have come to discover that it's something I'm actually pretty darned good at. Whenever I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed going to the range or shooting skeet is the best remedy in the world. It focuses and quiets my mind, and gives me a chance to put other situations out of sight for a while. When I walk away things usually are a lot more in perspective, and I usually feel alot better about in general...a good grouping has a tendency to do that...lol.

Due to all of this I also have come to find out that my mother is a lady shooter as well...she actually has gotten her concealed carry permit. So thanks to all of this it's opened up a totally new facet in our relationship which is just fantastic.

I've met a few other lady shooters...though not a great deal my age in this area. I have one friend who is interested in learning, but you can refer to the Bad Hunter's Anonymous post in Off Topic by K4b00m to understand my reservations about taking her to the range for much of anything.

My wife:

She just started shooting clay targets with me oh...almost 3 months ago.
First just trap with my 11-87, didnt fit her really well....and was afraid the recoil would chase her away...
So........went and looked and the 391 teknys gold 12 gauge fit her like a custom build, she loved the feel of it...so it went home with us. No recoil and fits perfect!.....she shoots it all day if we have the ammo available.

She now shoots Skeet, in fact we are in our first league together and shoot on the same squad
She is totally addicted to clay shooting!...in fact about a month ago she said...can we go hunt upland birds too?
:D :D 8)

So.......Yeah I know one!...best friend and wife too boot!
Im just glad I have the MEC 9000g, just to keep us in shells...a short sat at the range is 400 rounds!

Do you have a bird dog? Better watch out, if she starts shooting upland she'll want her own dog... Next will come the curiosity about deer... It has a way of getting out of hand.

I'm surprised she likes recoil better with the 391 than the 1187 cos I tried a 391 and didn't like the recoil but don't feel anything with the 1100... ?

my gf will shoot guns sometimes when shes with me n friends but she dont really like guns all that much but no matter how much she denys it she definatly loves my 10/22

Maser,

Please, please stay away form this forum. You reek too much havoc on these forums.

Pamela,

I spent many days/weekends in Florence. I went to the UofO and have many fond memories of the dunes, the beach, and the great little shops and restaurants! I also remember there were a few good bars there as well!

I am sure that the bird dogs will follow......we two Irish but they are sofa hunters, aka fur kids. I see a couple of field english in our future.

The recoil on the rem vs the beretta, totally due to fit. My 11-87 just didnt fit her and beat her up. The beretta on the other hand, fit her like a stock fitter made the weapon just for her. Add to the weight of the Teknys sporting gold, recoil reducer in the stock and I hand load to just at 1150-1200 fps one ouce loads, and the reactar pad she wears in her clays vest....you dont feel a thing, like shooting a 22 auto.

I can't wait to actually put in some field time. So far I've only done range shooting, trap, and skeet. K4b00m has told me that I've done really well for the short amount of time that I've been shooting. Last time out I actually got raised eyebrows and the comment of "Showoff!"

Out of his arsenal however my favorites so far:

Citori Lightning Gr.1 20 gauge (so much fun it shouldn't be legal)
Beretta 96 Inox .40 cal
Springfield 1911 A1 .45 ACP
Ruger M77 .308
and last but definitely not least his CZ 452 with its nice new Leupold scope :).

I can't wait to take my Christmas present from him out and give it a go...the Scout model of the CZ 452 and scope. Just have to get the scope mounted, mount sling swivels, and a decent sling.

Same here my wife loves to duck hunt.Fun to watch. She also shoots clays and trap. She was 2nd in the state of Wisconsin for women clays. She has only been shooting for a couple of years now.She really picked up on it and has more trophys than me.LOL

Greetings Ladies!!

I've posted a couple times but thought I'd introduce myself - cuz I can't remember doing it elsewhere.

My husband and I started shooting 9mm/.22 pistols about 6 monhts ago. We wanted to discover more than 'paper'. My husband bought a Remington 1187 (I think) 12 gauge, a cheap thrower, and went to town for the first time today!
What a blast!! I think I hit atleast 75% or more out of the 100 rounds we shot each!!

I'm a Machine Operator (Journeyman) in a local print/bind company. I love offroading and rockcrawling and heavily involved in running our local offroad club. We have a Jeep Wrangler with 35" tires and gets towed to the trails on most occasions but still street legal for those pavement trips. I love wrenching and working on our vehicles.......that kinda runs together with the career I have. But I seem to be good at it and enjoy it! Here's our website.... if you're interested.
http://www.lieblweb.com/ Our Jeep is called "Izzy II"

Love fishin - just haven't been out in sooo long. Wade fishing on the Susquehanna River for Smallmouth bass / Wallye is the best!!

Never hunted - not sure I could do that or not. Although Uncle Ted (Wanted: Ted or Alive :p ) can be very convincing. The one thing that would prevent me from hunting - is the cold weather!!! Getting up really really early and sitting in the freezing cold - isn't someting I find enjoyable. :D

I could see myself having a lot of fun here....you all seem very helpful and friendly!!

When I started grouse hunting, if they flew, I quit shooting at them because I was just wasting ammo. So I went to a local sporting clays range and got a few lessons - nothing formal - and got hooked on clays. I also met other women shooters at the range, and have formed life-long friendships with them. We are a very diverse group - I'm a telephone cable splicer (ret.), others are respiratory therapist, hair dresser, cake decorator, accountant, high-end computer tech support, sheriff deputy, etc. My husband doesn't shoot, so I'm lucky to have friends with which to enjoy the sport.

Heck yes I know woman shooters!

My GF is my favorite one, of course. We've just started shooting registered skeet together this spring. We're having a ball (and winning a little too!).

We regularly shoot with 2 other women as well. One is a very accomplished registered skeet shooter, another is a recreational shooter I work with. There are a couple more that we shoot with from time to time too that you can find in the NSSA record books.

I even have another one "on the line" as GF's adult daughter has the bug after joining us a time or two.

I would venture to say that all but one of the female skeet shooters I know do it because it's their passion - not just to spend time with hubby/BF. Competitive bunch too. I like that!
