I'd go with the AAHS. The factory uses WSH in that hull. I, myself, use WSH in the HS hull, albeit with 1 1/8 oz of shot with a blue duster. I'm thinking a green duster in that hull with 1 oz. would work just fine. It's very dense powder.

I've got WWAA12SL and the recipe for both winchester and remington is very similar, I might have to try both and see which one loads the best

 

I can't imagine why anyone would want a 1 oz load traveling more than 1250 fps as 18 grs
of 700 X does a fine job ! There again as I switch from WWCF hulls to Fed TG's ,I do use 19 grs !

I loaded a box or so in Nitro hulls, pink 1 oz CB 1100 wads, they loaded very nice I'll try them tomorrow. This is my back up plan for my middle school SCTP kids, as we are running low on shells. They shoot skeet, trap and sporting clays. I was just trying to keep the recoil down by loading the 1 oz loads, but with no shells and reloading supplies it's been tough. You have to take what you can get or quit shooting!

I'd love to buy a jug of Clays and load some normal shells, but the environment we now live in doesn't allow us to pick anymore! Got to take whatever is available if your out.

 

Kinda surprised you didn't need a 7/8 oz wad.

I haven't loaded SHC in 12g, but it's quite dense and my 20g loads that I can swap between green dot and international left a lot of room with SHC.

 

You might want to think about your liability exposure with others, kids in particular, shooting your reloads. Just a thought

 

A few years ago when powder was scarce all I could find was WSH, I was loading STS type hulls with TGT wads for 1 oz, my load was around 1,290 FPS. That load hammered targets, but the powder wasn't the cheapest compared to my normal claydot.

 

My load was taken directly from the Hodgdon website at the lowest fps/pressure round (nitro hulls, 19.3 gr WSH, CB1100-12 WAD, 1 oz #8-1180 FPS. I find this load shoots and hits well but is extremely dirty. lots of unburnt powder. My feeling is it's my primers. I have Nobel Sport 686 which is for a medium burn powder, Would like to try them with some actual winchester or cheddite primers and see if that cleans them up a bit. I shot them out of my O/U but wouldn't feel comfortable running them through a semi auto because of the dirtiness. So I'm not 100% pleased with the results, but they are useable for my personal use in a break open gun

Nobel 686 is a cooler primer. Yes, a Win 209 primer would help some with powder burn, but I'd also step up the powder to the 1250 FPS level and try again.

You have to remember that WSH is intended for a handicap (AKA higher velocity) loading. So it needs the pressure of that kind of load to burn the powder well.

That does makes sense, handicap powder should perform best at handicap speeds I was trying to keep the recoil down but I'll bet it wouldn't be that bad at 1250, thanks!

 

I cranked them up to the 1250-1300 range and they cleaned right up, we shot some today has a little snap but not a lot of kick. The boy liked them
