Hey guys, so recently my 11-87 has been cycling poorly. I was disassembling it today and noticed that the piston seal was getting really stuck inside the gas-return chamber. I had to really pull on it to get it out.

This picture should describe the problem:

Am I right in assuming that the piston seal should be able to slide freely on the magazine tube and shouldn't be stuck in the chamber? If this is the case, can I just get some steel wool and polish it down or should I order a new part?

Thanks!

I just got a 11-87 Premiere Skeet from 1989 with the same issue. It has not been used much, probably due to the poor cyclying. When I remove the barrel och put that part #64 in the gas cylinder i is very very tight. I need to push a lot until it snaps in place. When the barrel and all parts in place ite gets even worse as the magazine tube not seem to center in gas cylinder.

I tried to clean an polish the parts with steel wool ( 0000 ) but it did no difference.

I replaced the piston and piston seal (old type) with the same from another 11-87 I have that have the new style piston and piston seal. It do not stick the same way and I can almost shake the piston and piston seal out of the gas cylinder.

I have just been att the range and now the gun works ok. I will order an extra piston / piston seal kit new style. Possibly the old one can be adjusted in a lathe and with a file, but I save it in case I come across another barrel with wider gas cylinder.

Brownells is my choice: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1082 ... L_ASSEMBLY

I think old style or new style is more or less a personal preferece. Some like the old som like the new better. The main thing is to have the thousands on your side. I see a advantage to have the same type on all three of my 11-87's. And as it seem to work I go with the new style.

I will buy a few extra barrel seals while I am at it: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=324/ ... RREL_SEALS

Good luck and please share your results.

Received the parts from Brownells today. Now I have three fully functional 11-87's. No problem even with target loads :)

How have things worked out for you?
