1990's vintage K-80 with Kolar Tubes?

Sorta a 3–4-part question so bear with me here (please) I know little about a K-80 (however I want one)

1. Are Kolar Tubes any better or worse than Briley's?
2. I've looked at -2- guns. One has fixed choke tubes in a standard barrel, the other has a Tula Choked barrel. (both have Kolar sub gauge tubes)

2a. The sub gauge tubes on the Tula gun have chokes but come short of where the barrel bells out.
2b. The standard barrel's tubes come to the end of the barrel but are fixed skeet choke.

3. $7,750 for the fixed skeet tube gun (condition excellent, recent Ottsville service)
3a. $4,500 for the choke tube/tube set but it's a cobbed together gun with 'meah' wood and a horrible soft touch comb (no service history on this receiver at Ottsville)

4. Local gun emporium has a 30" Sporter like new for $11,700 (but no sub gauge tubes and I'm a skeet shooter)

All opinions most welcome! and in advance, THANK YOU for your insights!

(Now If I can just find the courage to tell Mary my skeet mentor I'm considering a K-80!) 😹😹😹😹😹😹😹

As to sub gauge tubes, if you go to a large skeet shoot and took a survey the results would 50/50ish. The only difference I could point out would be choke tubes, Briley chokes are easier to deal with being that they screw into the tube end in a traditional manner as opposed to kolars Which the choke screws onto the end of the sub gauge tube. I own both.

An ever present debate. My opinion has vacillated over the years between the two, and it often centers around when they were made, and what options are available at the time.

The sub gauge tubes on the Tula gun have chokes but come short of where the barrel bells out.
Thats the way all tula 12ga barrels will be tubed. Briley can thread Tula barrels for chokes, which allow you to tube to the end, but that adds a LOT of muzzle weight, and obviously must be done before the tubes are made.

3. $7,750 for the fixed skeet tube gun (condition excellent, recent Ottsville service)
If it's a 28" gun, the price is very high, if it's a 30" gun the price is a bit high to about right depending on condition.

3a. $4,500 for the choke tube/tube set but it's a cobbed together gun with 'meah' wood and a horrible soft touch comb (no service history on this receiver at Ottsville)
That's a decent deal for a Tula choked gun, if you can live with it. Market for tula choked barrels, with or without subgauge tubes, is very small, so you may be buried with the gun.

4. Local gun emporium has a 30" Sporter like new for $11,700 (but no sub gauge tubes and I'm a skeet shooter)
That's quite high for a used 30" K80 w/ no subgauge tubes. A 32" sporter can be had for $8500-9500 in borderline excellent condition, and is a MUCH more desirable gun. I wouldn't put a 30" K80 with no subgauge tubes at more than $8k unless it's nearly unfired and made in the last handful of years.

JTH has a recent 30" fixed skeet gun with a full set of Briley tubes for I believe around $7500, which would be an exponentially better deal than any of the other options you presented: Krieghoff K-80 12ga. 30" Standard Grade Skeet tube set

THANK YOU! That was very well said. Both guns are 28" barrels Again THANK YOU you've saved me!
