No doubt Negrini makes a good product, and I own one for everyday use, but I wouldn't trust it for air travel. I purchased a Pelican iM 3100 and couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the product. I have no worries putting a gun in there and flying with it. I can easily pack two 30" Beretta A400's in there. For my O/U I use a soft canvas breakdown case to put my O/U in and then package it in the Pelican case. Haven't tried two O/U's though. I have to give a shout out to Pelican because if you are ex-military they give you a nice discount.

Zeigel Engineering. Not cheap but no worse than others and simply outstanding construction. I have one that has survived multiple attacks by the gorillas and MHE at airports that handle them both during domestic and international travel. Their #52 might be big enough but if not #64 case should be perfect for your use. The cam lock system they offer is also very good because it leaves nothing to hang up when being moved.

The SKB 3614 is by far the best I have seen. Used it now for 8years no problems. And very reasonable price.

Tuffpak. Expensive, yes. But it holds 2 OU's easily plus a lot of other stuff, rolls thru the airport effortlessly, and doesn't look like a gun case. Highly recommended.

Pelican 1700, end of story. Buy the best padlocks you can find for it (non-TSA locks). Buy two soft takedown cases and take up the rest of the space with clothes, or cut the foam out to fit the guns.

It's the absolutely largest case you can buy that is under the oversize baggage limits, and the weight with two guns should still be under the overweight limit as well. They're basically indestructible, and if your gun gets damaged in one, there is NO other case that would have protected it (plus the case has lifetime warranty if damaged).

I bought the SKB Roller Duffel years ago and it's NEVER failed me. Holds 2 broken OU's and fits in the bottom of the duffle for disguise. It's a very good looking case by itself but holds no more than the guns, which doesn't bother me in the least. I don't know if it's still in production or not.....

Americase would be the first choice, Pelican a very, very close second. There was a guy on one of the gun boards that posted a picture of his car after getting rear ended, think it totaled the car. He had a shotgun in an Americase in the trunk…dented the case but gun was untouched. As mentioned, they are no longer made, but come up for sale every now and then. I have four of them, one being a double gun case…talk about HEAVY, but as close in indestructible as you can get…YMMV

I have this and the matching duffel that goes in it. You put your guns in in soft cases and then pack clothes in the duffel and shove it in between the guns. It's a lot lighter and easier to maneuver than my old traditional gun case since it will stand up by itself. You can fit up to five guns in it and then once you get to your destination you take everything out, leave the case and the duffel in your room and just take the soft cases to the range or the field and you don't have to deal with the big clunky case again till it is time to go home.

I bought the Vault by Pelican V800 for a trip to South Africa. I took two rifles with me and they arrived both ways fine. You cut the foam out to fit your particular firearm so you can make them snug. For under $300 I was impressed. During my research, the TuffPak is the best but I couldn't justify the money for as little as I fly with firearms.

Tuffpaks are durable, but their locking system is a joke. They have a tumbler lock (ostensibly high security, right?). However, the latching tab of the lock simply butts up against a piece of angle aluminum inside the case.

Although Pelican cases are super strong and definitely will protect the contents when configured properly inside; they are FAR too heavy for me to schlep around an airport even on rollers.

This is why I graduated to the Zeigel case although I have also used Kalispel cases without issues.

Different strokes for different folks.

Pelican.

A friend was in the process of ordering one recently. The best priced one that would accommodate his guns didn’t have wheels. Much easier to navigate an airport or parking structure with wheels.

Also, you can bungee a duffle bag to the top of the case, and then you’re only dragging one ‘bag’.
