Next years South Central and Southeast regional are at Covey Rise and Backwoods, respectively. They are only a few weeks apart, so its unlikely that I'll shoot them both. Both clubs are on my list for places I've wanted to attend a shoot. Travel will be roughly the same for both. Which one would you pick and why?

I also have not been able to shoot Backwoods, yet. I have nothing but good things to say about Covey Rise. I might ad that the seafood restaurants nearby CR were quite good, especially the corner neighborhood types.

Providence Hill, near Jackson, MS is just a few hours north of CR. It is hosting the Open in 2025.

It is too bad that Covey Rise is not open to the public. I had my shotgun fitted by Royce up there a few months back and he was great.

Covey Rise is a beautiful place but at 3500.00 for the initial membership dues and 75.00 a month after that. It is a bit out of reach financially for me right now, but everything I witnessed on-site was top notch.

Covey Rise is absolutely top-notch in every regard. I would put their hospitality and attention to detail above any club I have ever been to, which albeit is not many. I regularly shoot there and Providence and they smoke Providence based on how tournaments run, payouts, food (included in a weekend registered shoot), and even things like labeling station menus correctly. I have not been to Backwoods but have heard it is a first-rate facility.

I didnt get into his credentials, but he is one classy dude and makes a person feel comfortable with his process.

Like I said earlier, if the cost of admission to their club was a little less. I would try to become a member. It is a very nice place, just a little out of my range with 3 kids in private school here in New Orleans.

I know nothing about Covey Rise. Sounds nice. I live about an hour from BWQ. I have shot the Heat is on 3 times (missed this year) and two Gator Cups there and I am already signed up for Gator 2025. I will be signed up for the SE Regional 2025. I missed the US Open there in 2022 due to a Rotator Cuff. I belong to a private club near Charleston. Rick Hemingway (BWQ owner) is our Promatic dealer. I am thinking about joining BWQ too. I am glad I don't have your decision, but I would figure out how to do a big shoot at both. I am biased to BWQ!!!

I've never been to BW but I'm sure it's a nice place also
Covey rise is the premier place in Louisiana by far an they always put on a good tournament
Down here in Louisiana an Mississippi
Covey rise runs a close second to providence hill as the premiere clubs to shoot at

BWQC is a great shooting venue. Pawleys Island just over the bridge from Georgetown was a better place to stay than Georgetown. Think about renting a condo for a week. Pawleys Island is about a 30-40 minute ride to BWQC on a good day. You can always stop at Georgetown on the way to Pawleys Island for good dining. JMHO.

Covey Rise puts on a good shoot. I have been there for several LA state shoots, including this year. I have not been to Backwoods, but it has an excellent reputation. You can't go wrong with either one.
We stayed in Covington, LA (about 25-30 minutes from Covey Rise) and had one of the best meals I have ever had at Gallaghers Grill.

I realize this thread is over a year old, but just to finalize it. We ended up going to Covey Rise. It was well worth the trip. Very nice facilities. Ground are fairly flat and open, but the target setters still did a great job. Targets for the main were the correct difficulty for a regional (some snowflakes were complaining about the difficulty in the squad behind us). I really enjoyed them. FITASC was pretty good as well, but all 4 parcours had a nearly identical E bird on it. The prelim and super were lighter, but still creative and entertaining. Sub-gauge FITASC was set really well and set on completely different parcours (not just different hoops). Setting them both on the same pars seems like such a money grab, so glad to see they didn't do that like so many other large events. Plus they have no shortage of land. Glad we went.
