Never thought I had much use for a 20ga but in the last year has become close to favorite for 5-stand & Skeet. Question, I really don't want to add another powder to my inventory and have a good supply of International & Longshot. Do any of you like /use these? There is data on the Hodgens site for both. I've collected a good supply of AA HS hulls, thinking I will use CB1078-20 wad, I have WW & Cheddite primers.

Thanks for your input.

Both work. The Int loads will usually be higher pressure and slower. Longshot will give higher velocity loads at lower pressure. It's been discussed that Int shouldn't be used in tube sets. I personally like the way Int works because I shoot light 20 ga loads in my fixed breech gun. I find Longshot to have a louder report but with proper ear protection that is fixed. For 5 stand the extra velocity might be nice. For skeet I just like light recoil.

I like International and its twin sister Green Dot for the 20 ga. Some will say that its a little hot for the 20 but I will normally back off a half a grain or so and I feel comfortable with that. One thing for sure is that it is snappy and both powders burn clean for me. I load Federal hulls and get 4-5 reloads before I toss them.

For 3/4 oz I would look at Unique, 20/28, Universal, Green Dot, or International

I've just worked up a load for 3/4 ounce 20 gauge in a Remington Gun Club hull with a CB1075-20 wad and Cheddite 209 primer. Yeah AAHS wads in a Remington hull, you try finding Remington wads in today's world. They work just fine, been using the 1078-20 for years.

Anyhow to the load. The charge weight is 15.2 grains and on a Skeet field it's a spot on match for the 16 grain load I use for 7/8 20's. Cannot even guess and the velocity but it does break targets with authority and the 7/8 grain load matches the 7/8 ounce Gun Clubs at 1200 fps in lead and recoil. I've been thinking about getting the new Garmin Zero C1 and this may provide the impetus to get one. The biggest issue was getting the crimp acceptable, ended up dropping the center stem by 3/4 turn and taking the cam adjustment as high as it would go. Now I get a pretty good looking crimp with a tight center and just a bit of dish in the center. I've downloaded all the info to get the load tested by BP and might get it out this week.
