I better return my 1300fps low base shells, apparently they're in the wrong hull.

Dean don't mind the arrogance and sarcasm of some. However, many low base shells can be loaded to to handle the high velocity and pressures.
You call a rebuke arrogance and sarcasm. What do you call posting something when you don't know that the hell you're talking about? I get your drift, but while a rebuke of ignorance should be a no no in favor of educating the ignorant, a rebuke of BS is not the same.

Seems my little comment caused quite a hub bub.
For those who say the height of the brass at the base of a shotshell, in relation to the power of that shotshell, is all marketing, ask yourselves why.
Why waste all that money (think about the combined cost of all those shells!), just for the sake of.....marketing?
Granted, marketing is a very powerful tool and can often pay off with large dividends, but this form of marketing would be akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face.
It makes no sense.
Why waste all that money if you're not going to follow through 100%?
Another way to look at it - if the height of the brass casing doesn't matter, why not make ALL shells low base...or better yet, no base!
Think about it....even if you don't think you need to.

The guys that say it is all hype are guys whose opinions I respect so I'm inclined to go along with them. That said, I'm also inclined to believe that the story that "High Brass shells are more powerful" probably had a basis of some sort in fact at some point. Albeit probably a long time ago.

I think we're not all on the same page here. Let me try to sum up.

There are three sizes for brass on shotgun shells; Hi, Medium and Low.
Factory shells come with the different sizes and it generally denotes amount of charge or speed.
The size of the brass does not matter when making a shell though. All of the burn/explosion is contained by the shotgun chamber, not the brass.

So, Hi brass or Lo brass really makes no difference. What's written on the box is what's in the shell. Shoot, they even make shells with no brass on them. They are completely plastic and they're fine.

All these shells are the same over all length. They could all have the same payload and speed:

Drs, 2few, and Rastoff:

You guys are arguing using reason, logic, and facts. Undoubtably, someone else will chime in soon to tell you that you are of course wrong. They will bring an argument based on conjecture, something they read on an Internet chat forum, or something they learned from an expert- most likely a friend of a friend or distant relative.

Such is life.
